It was a beautiful day today so we took the boat to Richmond and walked back along the tow path. I thought I had my photo for today of a rather bucolic scene of ‘Belted Galloway’ cows in Petersham meadows. These are used to graze meadow land. However... as we walked along the river, we were surprised to see a CAR approaching on the WATER. It proceeded to drive onto land, the owner pulled up alongside the ice cream van, bought two ice creams and then drove back down to the rivers edge, into the river and off in the direction of Richmond!

We were rather surprised. After a bit of googling when I got home I found out that this is called an ‘Amphicar’ and is a restored car originally built in the 1960’s in Germany. It can travel up to 70 miles an hour on the roads and up to 8 knots on the water. I liked the fact that it is even sporting a Naval Red Ensign and life ring on the boot at the back!

For anyone on FaceBook, here’s the alternative shot of Belted Galloway cows in Richmond - https://www.facebook.com/186301661422523/photos/a.190144021038287.67466.186301661422523/741521929233824/?type=1&theater
