27th July 2014

It is the Teddington River Festival today at Teddington Lock and Manor Road recreation ground. It was a lovely day, hot, sunny and a number of the ‘Little Ships’ involved in the evacuation of troops from the beaches at Dunkirk in the Second World War were moored in the long barge lock. On the central lock island bands played and there was a rather good beer tent.

This is the 'Lilian' - built in Sweden in 1916 and a unique example of an early diesel gentleman's yacht - beautiful. Here’s some other images from the day (do look out for the two dogs, I was tempted to choose one of them for todays images but I know I often fall for cute dogs so I strived to use another image instead!!) - https://www.flickr.com/photos/emmadurnford/sets/72157645590592189/
Love the reflection in this shot. I enjoyed the other shots and I did notice the very cute dogs. I think it must have been a thrill to see some of the little ships of Dunkirk and think of that heroic time.
