24th January 2015

This is the last weekend that the ice rink is at Strawberry Hill house. It is a lovely venue and I hope it will return next year. Richmond used to have an ice rink until the 1990's but then it was demolished and flats built-in it's place on the banks of the river Thames. People in Richmond were promised that another venue would be found for the rink but it never happened.

We walked on from Strawberry Hill through Twickenham and into Richmond. I managed over my 10,000 steps on my pedometer and more excitingly upgraded my mobile phone to an iPhone 6!!
Lovely light and pov in your capture of this gorgeous building. Are there actually strawberries growing around here?

@padlock You have to be kidding - I always have been the person who hangs on the edge, working my way around the rink in an hour or so!! I love watching other people though!!

I'm sending you a set of 4 those plastic frame mounts today with some bumf I wrote for the exhibition in October in case it helps with your exhibition.

@tristansmum After you asked about Strawberry Hill and strawberries I realised I have no idea why is it called that. The area it is in is called Strawberry Hill but apart from a reference to a hill with the same name in the 17th century I am no further forward - now I am fascinated to know the origins of the name - I'll let you know when I find out!
