I keep hearing that House and Tree Sparrows are meant to be on the decline. However we are lucky to have flocks of dozens of House Sparrows visit our garden. Inspired by a great shot by @laurellis_x earlier in the week I set up watch in our kitchen and the sparrows did not notice me only about 8 feet away from the feeder in our hedge.

Sometimes the chirping is so loud that I tell them to be quiet if we are trying to read the paper outside! We love them though and they have a haven here, bird feeders around the garden. a thick hedge for safe perching and a bird bath for drinking and bathing.
Beautiful shot and a fav, and how great that your garden is a haven for them--and, I suspect, for other birds too. I tend to think of sparrows as being a bit like tabby cats, in that they often go unnoticed because there are a lot of them--but when one really looks at their markings, one sees how beautiful they actually are.

Yes we've had lots of sparrows recently - I have to keep filling up the feeder
