24th August 2015

Today I went back to the lampshade workshop to continue shooting for my Associate panel for the Royal Photographic Society. I took the chocolate cookies that I baked yesterday and they seemed to go down well with the team. It really is a fascinating business and I took over 700 images and have already edited down to around 100 or so to have printed to play around with. This is Lali and she has worked for over 20 years with the company. She is concentrating on laminating fabric to the hard shade material and this is one of the few of her looking serious as she was laughing the whole time I was photographing!
I like the position you've caught her in, and you've also captured a look of intense alertness and concentration. The photograph certainly conveys the feeling of what it is like to be engaged in exacting manual work.
