2nd September 2015

Today I headed up town to catch the Travel Photographers exhibition at the Royal Geographic Society as it is only on for another few days and also to see this unusual sight at Covent Garden.

It is a modern art installation by the French artist Charles Pétillon’s called ‘Heart Beat’ in the 19th century Market Building. It is created using 100,000 balloons and measures 54 by 12 meters. Apparently it symbolises the beating of a heart and the history and dynamism of the local area - I am not totally sure if I thought it does that but it is very impressive and I enjoy seeing such original work on such a large scale. I did manage to squeeze a Demotix article out of the event as well...

Spectacular and beautifully captured, fav. It reminded me, at first glance, of huge bunches of white grapes hanging from the ceiling.
