16th January 2016

At last winter has arrived.

The temperature has dropped to below freezing and there are now thick frosts in the morning. I decided to go for another pre-dawn rise to get over to Bushy Park for some sunrise shots. I do find it difficult leaving a warm bed when it is still dark outside but once out and walking through the Park with only the birdsong for company it is well worth it.

I have my favorite places and favorite trees around the Heron Pond that I tend to photograph each visit. However this time I found a slightly different angle by the boating pond with a line of trees to lead the eye into the image and then a flock of seagulls appeared which added a nice touch. I bought croissants for a nice breakfast on my way home (best with apricot preserve!).

I took quite a few photos and I posted a small selection on FaceBook -

Oh, this is so lovely!

I stumbled across this shot when I was browsing the latest photos and was captivated. Definitely a fave! (and a follow)

@bernicrumb Thank you Bernie, I'm not great at early mornings but I also managed to get out this morning to Teddington Lock for the sunrise.

@emmadurnford The only reason I get any morning shots is because I grab them on my morning commute if traffic and the weather is cooperative. :-)
