9th October 2016

An interesting day. Another bit of DIY that extended into a few hours and one that we still have not finished! Who would have thought that simply changing a light fitting in the office should end up as such a long winded procedure with both of us up ladders wearing protective goggles (my idea) and balancing a vacuum cleaner on the ladder to try and pick up the plaster dust from the ceiling.

As a break I popped out to the Teddington Artists exhibition at the nearby Langdon Down Centre. It was held in the old theatre which is pictured here and although I thought I’d pop in for half an hour, it actually took me an hour and a half as I met so many people I knew and ended up chatting. The Langdon Down centre is fascinating as it is where John and Mary Langdon Down first identified Downs Syndrome and subsequently opened a hospital and home for people with Downs Syndrome in the Victorian era. This theatre is an original restored Victorian theatre with the original hand painted sets.
