Our journey to Perth continued from Dubai on a different A380. We boarded at 2.40am local time (about quarter to midnight UK time) and for some strange reason breakfast was served an hour after take off. I was not hungry at all and I have absolutely no idea why I did not just refuse the offer but somehow I ordered crepes with apple and creme fraiche and a fruit salad to accompany my glass of champagne.

We eventually got to go to sleep having managed to procure a couple of the thin mattresses that apparently were in short supply. We went though some quite bad turbulence but survived the night. I now have no idea of what time it is as we were on UK time at the start of our journey, moved three hours forward in Dubai and will move a further four hours forward in Perth. Lunch was being served at around 1.00pm Perth time which would actually be 6.00am UK time. This time even I could not manage a full 3 course lunch with champagne and wine. I went for the cod with pomegranate sauce and quinoa and fresh fruit salad for dessert - some who remain nameless did go for all three courses!

This is a pic of the two of us in a surprisingly empty bar when we woke up at what would be around 5.00am UK time!! I did manage to remove and put back on fresh make up but I think we may be looking a tad jaded here.

We finally arrived in Perth, Western Australia at 5.50pm local time after over 24 hours of traveling. I have watched so many episodes of ‘Australia - Border Control’ and so was extremely disappointed to find this is the fastest that we have ever cleared immigration and customs anywhere in the world on any journey and there were no sniffer dogs around and the place was pretty empty. Our next driver was ready and waiting and worryingly he had a Mercedes minibus with attached little trailer for luggage. I know we do not travel that light but we do only have one suitcase each!

Our ‘Coach House’ apartment in Fremantle for the next 5 days is stunning and we had a really warm welcome from Vicki and she has made us up a welcome pack for breakfast so eggs and bacon it will be. I’m flagging now.

I am writing this as I am desperately trying to keep awake for a bit longer to try and start settling into Oz time. It is 10.25pm so I think I have done pretty well - unlike some others I can hear snoring next door. Finally off to bed, I’m not setting the alarm so I have no idea what will happen.
