31st October 2017

It was quite cloudy and breezy this morning but we had already made up our minds to head back to the centre of Sydney on the Manly ferry.  This is listed as one of the worlds top ferry journeys and I was determined to sit outside for the entire journey and we still took our seasickness tablets just in case!  In the event I was the only one who stayed out the front for the entire half an hour journey and actually it was not that rough.  The views of the harbour with Sydney bridge and the Opera house were just as amazing from this angle as they were from when we were staying at The Rocks.

We headed back up at George Street as I was determined to try and get some presents to take back but unfortunately all I could find was tourist tat.  However we did end up at the Sydney Observatory on a hill with some great views and a fascinating piece of public art in the bandstand. We decided to head back into the city and search out the Westfield food court that Colin had identified as a good place for dinner.  We had a great Thai lunch although I did not think the food court was quite as good as the ones we had visited in Melbourne.

Unfortunately my eye has been playing up since last night and we ended up stopping by the Sydney Eye Hospital en route to the Botanic Gardens.  I was entitled to free treatment as a reciprocal arrangement with the UK but after an hour and a half of waiting and a brief visit with the doctor they could not find any problem and my eye is still hurting - that was a bit of a waste of time and we then found out that the Justice and Police museum is only open at the weekend so I guess we will not be visiting there before we leave.

We had one last look at the Sydney Opera House before we took the ferry back to Manly and this time I wimped out and stayed inside in the warm.
Gorgeous!
