31st January 2018

It is a special day today in astronomical terms. Today it is a Super Blue Blood Moon.

For the first time since 1866, a supermoon, a blue moon, a blood moon and an eclipse coincided on 31st January. Unfortunately the eclipse happened before the moon rose above our hoist bu even so there were so pretty impressive photos on the news.

This is my effort. I’ll be honest, it did not look that much bigger or different to other full moons but I am pleased that I have mastered moon photography using my Canon f/2.8 70-200mm lens, hand held.
