We headed up town today for one of my favourite events - the Destinations Travel show at Olympia.
We go each year and collect lots of brochures and leaflets for ideas for future trips. We also went to watch Michael Portillo give a 45-minute talk all about his new 'Rail trip across America’ series of programmes. He is a really good speaker as a lot of other people thought as well, despite us going to queue up nearly half an hour before his talk, the queues doubled up the entire length of the lecture area so we gave up and watched from the outside barrier and still got a good view!
We met some nice people and swapped notes on trips and headed up to Whitechapel to collect a camera and lens case for our trip to Finland.
@padlock Realised I had not replied - the case was a special hard impact case which fits my camera with lens attached so I can use it immediately. I needed it to keep the temperature slightly up on the camera body (put a hand warmer in there as well) and also for protection (we did turn the snowmobile with us under it during a -15 white out on a mountain... both in one piece - just). The new Wex store in Whitechapel is excellent - have you been?
@emmadurnford yes I have and when it first opened it was disappointing . Trust it has got better. I wanted a new lens blower not one to be seen but I could buy several colours of gaffer tape. Also looked to upgrade a camera but the salesman had no interest at all. You can imagine what happened.
What is the case called??
It was a 'Case Logic Kontrast DSLR Zoom Holster' - it is reinforced and has a sort of sling mechanism inside that supports the camera body with lens hanging down. I like Wex online and have had great support from their Norfolk branch. It looked pretty well stocked in store but I didn't really try their customer service levels to be honest as I was only collecting an order.
