30th April 2018

Today we set off for our tour of Northern Spain - the day did not go well.

The taxi was late and then we got stuck in heavy traffic. Our first flight delayed because of a faulty luggage door catch! We set off 30 minutes late, circled Madrid for ages, and then landed with literally 20 minutes to make our connecting flight. I RAN FOR 0.75 of a mile (new PB) and they had held our connecting flight, almost there and we came to huge queue for passport control, I remembered the Spanish for 'sorry, I've got 20 minutes for a connecting flight" and we pushed right to the front - good. I did not have a heart attack - good. We made it to Santander - no luggage, apparently it could be coming at 10.30 at night - maybe. We killed time in Santander for 5.5 hours (we did have an excellent tapas meal though) and eventually arrived (with luggage) in Llanes at 1.00am!

This is a storm approaching El Sardinero district of Santander - a good reflection of the day really!

(8,275 footsteps - a lot of those were run at speed!)
