We had a bit of a lie in as thankfully the Posada does not start breakfast until 9.00am - how civilised! An interesting combo of olive oil and honey on toast which is actually a lot more tasty than it sounds. The lady doing breakfast does not speak any English at all so it was a bit of a challenge but we had a nice breakfast of fruit, homemade yoghurt and ‘tostada’.

As we have been travelling for over 2 weeks we were due another laundry visit. I researched in advance as decided that we could get to Burgos, spend an hour in the laundrette and then continue on sightseeing. The laundrette was excellent and all was going so well until I realised that I had totally forgotten to bring the washing tablets that I have been lugging around Spain in my suitcase. I ‘trotted’ (getting my footsteps up) to a supermarket, found tablets on a special offer and even got the check-out lady to give me the change in euros coins for the machines. Take 2 and an hour later we had two bags of freshly laundered and folded clothes and we headed onto another tight underground garage in the centre of the historic quarter.

Burgos is a really nice little town with a clear river full of trout running through the centre and yes, another cathedral which yes, we did visit again with the same awful narrated handsets. I really like the carved details and there was some beautiful light cast by the stained glass which is todays image.

We also managed a great tapas bar - we are old hands now, straight up to the car stools, two beers and a quick tapas selection bish, bash, bosh - just like the locals. Burgos equals ‘Morcilla Mk4’. A very good one the time that even I thought tasted nice. Current results 2 points to Zamora and Burgos 0 points to León and Salamanca!

We walked and walked taking my footsteps way past Colin’s even with his dodgy Pacer app as I had the 3/4 mile return journey to the supermarket in the morning. After six hours sightseeing we returned to Lerma and thought we’d try a local restaurant. No so, apparently we are discovering that we are well out of season in some of the interior little towns. There was only one place apart from the parador open and that was very expensive so it was back to our own posada restaurant (Michelin recommended) for dinner again.
