10th July 2018

Today, despite the heat I headed up town to St James Park and Buckingham Palace to view the RAF100 flypast. I had researched this for quite some time for the best place to stand but when I eventually made it up there, an hour and a half before the scheduled time of the fly past it was virtually impossible to get into St James Park. I managed to negotiate the road blocks but the view was quite disappointing due to the trees and the fact that the park is sat a lower level to the Mall and Buckingham Palace.

I decided to try and get a bit closer to the Palace and after some sidling up and stepping on the ‘keep off the grass’ area I found myself opposite the Royal Balcony and later in the day `I was able to see the entire Royal Family come out including Princesses Megan and Kate. As one o’clock approached we could hear the sound of the planes as they approached but could not see them until they flew over the trees and over the palace.

This is the formation of Typhoons forming the ‘100’ - there was such a big cheer as they went over. The flypast lasted a good 15-20 minutes and it was well worth my stiff back and standing for over 1.5 hours waiting.

Here are some more images from the flypast and of the Royal Family - it was a brilliant day.
