This day has been over two years in the planning in that myself and 3 friends could not actually get our act together to meet up. We last met pretty much on our last day at college back in 1990. We live around the south of England and so had to choose a place that we could all reach fairly easily and I managed to get agreement on somewhere close to Salisbury. I found a place called Heale House and Gardens which has a lovely cafe. Colin came with me as he wanted to do some family research at Great and Little Durnford nearby.
Despite not having seen each other for so long I immediately recognised Richard and then Louise and Suki as they arrived. We started with tea and cake and then managed some lunch. The gardens are beautiful it is just sad that the house is privately owned so we could not go in. After about twenty eight years we all got on very well and have achieved a lot over the years. Marriages, divorces, children, bereavement… we faced them all.
We finally left at about 4.00pm with a promise that we will meet at least once a year, changing the venue.
The day was beautiful and afterwards Colin and I stopped in a country pub for a lime and soda to enjoy the Wiltshire countryside.
