After an interesting breakfast which consisted mainly of cakes and toast we gingerly drove to a car park that the hotel owner had told us about in Tarragona. Despite not really wanting to use the car, the walk had been so long last night that we decided to take a risk and needless to say there was absolutely no problem at all.
Tarragona has a lot more to offer than I was expecting and the Roman ruins throughout the city are very impressive even if they did all turnout to be closed as it is Monday. It was very hot so we were flagging a bit by the time we reached the old fishing quarter so we were ’forced’ to sit down and enjoy an excellent cocktail at a little cafe on the sea front. We continued our walk stopping for supplies at the local supermarket we we enjoyed in a little park. We walked and walked and we were flagging again so this time a ‘cortado’ coffee revived us before we set off to find the Ferreres Aqueduct or Pont del Diable (Devil’s Bridge) just out of town. Surprisingly the slip road was right next to the busy motorway but after just one hundred meters or so we had parked in a shaded carpark next to trees and a park.
