24th November 2018

Our last morning in Berlin and it was leisurely although breakfast was rather a rugby scrum again! We took it gently and eventually checked out around 11.30 and went for a potter around the shops. I had hoped to get a Christmas decoration for the tree but all the ones I liked were so expensive. I realised that we are staying in the equivalent of Knightsbridge where we’d never shop so that probably explains it!

We ended up in Galleries Lafayette gain and although we weren’t that hungry we managed a slice of quiche and a small beer each followed by an excellent lemon and sugar crepe made fresh in front of us.

We got the hotel to call us a taxi to avoid the rip-off charges we had on arrival and had an easy trip but discovered that despite being the main airport for the capital of Germany, it’s really small with virtually no shops or cafes airside.

My trick for booking our seats with a space in between worked again and we had a spare seat for space. The taxi driver this end was delayed and the end of our long day culminated with a flood through the ceiling to the spare room as ‘somebody’ had been bleeding the radiator to warm up the room but got distracted as it was taking too long and left I to flood through the carpet, floorboards, ceiling below onto the beige carpet! Not the best end to the day although I don’t think much damage has been done.
