30th November 2018

Ooh, I’ve been looking forward to today as I had booked train tickets down to Bath from Twickenham via Reading to meet Mum and Ian at the Bath Christmas Market. Colin gave me a lift to Twickenham and it was an easy journey, albeit a little late in on the train from Twickenham to Reading.

The Great Western train made perfect time to Bath and I arrived feeling refreshed unlike Mum and Ian who had only just arrived feeling shattered after a 4.15am departure from home in Penzance and then ‘touring the houses’ around most of South West England on a coach!

They soon recovered after a coffee in M&S and a wander around the market. It was a really nice market with tasteful gifts and the stalls were spread around the various pedestrianised streets and so there was plenty of space despite the large numbers of visitors. We then enjoyed a hog roast bap with apple sauce for lunch and later a mulled wine and mini mince pie.

I did in fact get quite a few presents and after Mum and Ian had departed on their coach, as I had a couple of hours to kill before my train, I went back to pick up some things they had been looking at. I picked up some snacks from M&S for dinner on my way back on the train but unfortunately it arrived over 20 minutes later which meant I had to really run at Reading station to get my connection but I managed it with about 45 seconds to spare!
