3rd December 2018

Today was the beginning of a very expensive week. I had a dental check up booked for first thin gin the morning and decided to make the most of the trip and make card deliveries to both Richmond and Twickenham. Parking is pretty difficult in the area so Colin came as well to help by staying in the car and also because he gets an Eccles cake and cup of tea as a reward from our favourite cafe in Richmond!

When I came out of the dentist (no work required), I got into the car ready to drive over the bridge only to find that the car engine was barely turning over. It seemed that the battery was dead. Despite numerous attempts it was not going anywhere so I called the RAC. After some confusions they confirmed help was on its way… it could take up to 4 hours!!

With that in mind I thought I might as well walk over the bridge and get at leat one delivery done and this is the shot I took from Richmond Bridge. I made the delivery and was just about to buy us some cakes to take back to the car when amazingly I received a call from the mechanic who was on his way and only a few minutes away. I rushed out of the cafe (without cakes) and he had already arrived and was talking to Colin when I got back. So much for the 4 hour wait - more like 45 minutes. The mechanic was very good and ran a diagnostic and luckily it was just a failed battery and he got the car going so we could drive straight to our local garage… the credit card came out.

I tested the car out later by driving back to Twickenham to make the second delivery and also picking pop a couple of cases of our favourite wine on special offer at almost half price.
