26th March 2019

I had organised some time ago to catch up with my friend Sarah in Raynes Park. We normally go for a dog walk on Wimbledon Common and we did the same today with her lovely spaniel Ollie and her new rescue dog - Ted - a border collie who was a neglected puppy on a farm down in Cornwall. He is settling in well now to the extent he can travel on the bus!

It was a beautiful day and I was able to have a chat with my friend about my predicament and she did her best to reassure me and also gave me a beautiful little necklace as a good luck charm with dandelion seeds captured in a little glass ball - so thoughtful.

After our walk I drove back and caught up with Colin on route as I had to go and collect my blood rest results from the doctor. We could not see or speak to a Doctor as I collected my results from the receptionists. The results were not dreadful although there were a couple of borderline to high readings. One I know all about as it is related to kidneys - I have had mild to medium impairment identified back in 2012 so no surprise there. The other borderline high reading is for something I have never heard of (but of course Googled!) - Serum ferritin. Apparently this is the amount of iron blood carries. This would be an indicator of anaemia and luckily this is not the case. The downside is that raised levels can relate to kidneys - not a surprise or underlying infection or malignancy… oh dear. However the woman on reception did point out that the Doctor did not consider any of the results serious enough to call me in about.

I’ll make an appointment with my doctor tomorrow to discuss. The system in the surgery is that they have plenty of appointments but cannot allocate them the day before?!
