Traffic was good on the M25 and despite roadworks not too bad on the M23. We checked in easily and had plenty time for a nice Lebanese lunch at North Terminal in Gatwick. After a rather chaotic boarding and a totally full plane the journey was uneventful and went pretty quickly as I chatted with a Greek man who works in Horsham but was travelling back to visit his girlfriend. Despite not wanting to hear anything about Brexit whilst we are out of the UK (or at least somewhere high above land), we ended up talking for nearly 2 hours about a range of topics. I feel very knowledgeable.
This was taken somewhere possibly over Austria as the suns set - spot the snowy mountain under the plane wing.
After a very long walk to collect our luggage (and being very aware that this could be the last time we come through the EU bit of passport control), we spotted out driver - Alexos - I had booked a few days ago. It was a much better trip than from Berlin airport and not only was it a pleasant journey with a friendly driver, we did not get ripped of. We met ‘Vladimir’ as our concierge at the apartment and he too was nice. The apartment is great, on the third floor with lift and it could not be more central in the city - we can see the Acropolis within a minutes walk. We even managed a very good Greek meal and I am remembering some Greek words but only hello, thank you and cheers at the moment!
