21st April 2019

Easter Sunday and I put together a little basket of delicious Cadbury eggs for Colin. I’m on day three of the special diet and loathe to cancel my friends invitation to a special Easter lunch with family and friends I had explained to Emmeline and Paul my predicament and on her assurances that it was our presence not the food that was important, we went anyway. She had decorated the house beautifully and there were eggs and rabbits everywhere and also the adorable Stanley the dog who is so well trained.

I took cold cauliflower cheese, a chicken bread and chopped peeled cucumber. The menu was home made sorrel soup with salmon canapes, roast stuffed lamb with dauphinoise potatoes and vegetables and finally lemon curd and verbena ice-cream with rhubarb and custard sponge with shortbread biscuits. I was able to share the dauphinoise potatoes, some ice-cream but picked out the leaves and some shortbread. I was rather wistful but Colin enjoyed his proper lunch. We all had prepared an egg based anecdote for in between courses and ours involved a photo of a Fairy Tern in the Seychelles and the associated tale of the massive storm on Bird Island.

This is a little montage of a lovely sunny Easter Sunday.
