30th April 2019

Two big events today. We got up early as I had a 9.15am appointment at Kingston Hospital for the results of the biopsies taken last week. I did not think I was so worried now as I have been given the all-clear on anything serious but I realised I was quite nervous as we caught the train and walked the entire of Kingston Hospital campus looking for the ‘Out Patients’ Department.

We arrived in plenty of time and I was due next in just as a fire alarm caused the entire building to be evacuated with a 20 minute wait outside until we got the all clear. I finally got to see the top Consultant who runs the department which was really good. He was able to tell me that all the biopsies were clear and that I did not have anything wrong. The pain and unusual habits are still with me so he agreed with my own self diagnosis from a number of months ago that the symptoms are somewhat IBS related. I really should become a Doctor!

We headed to Kingston to celebrate the good news by using our John Lewis complimentary cake and hot drink vouchers. As a two-fingers to IBS I have a fruit scone with jam and cream along with a latte!

Early afternoon we drove over to Epsom for the pick up of the new car. I had already told Colin that there was no way I was going to drive it back! Michael who has been very good, had the car ready and waiting and it looks smart. The colour choice is defiantly right. Michael even offered to come out on a little drive so that we could get used to some of the many gadgets. Eventually it was time for us to drive off, me in the Astra following Colin in the Skoda Karoq. We had pre-arranged to rendezvous in Bushy Park car park so we could take stock on the new car - we spent over half an hour fiddling before I remembered that we are supposed to be going out a little later and we had to set off home - needless to say no parking near the house!

It was a bit of a rush to get ready as we were meeting friends at the Kings head in Teddington at 7.00pm. It has been refurbed and we have not eaten there before. In the event it was very good with Cornish Doombar bitter on tap. I had a cheese soufflé to start and mussels for main course, sadly no dessert and the friends rarely have desserts :-(
