Dubrovnik is the second of our 4-night locations (the last one was Korçula). Therefore we have an entire 3 days here. We have explored the old town and I had planned a boat trip to the island of Mjet but in the event the logistics of timings and locations of ferries made it quite a challenge so we decided to change plans. I Googled and found a boat trip that included visits to three islands in the Elaphites Islands, free pick up and drop off, lunch and all drinks included for only about £30 each. This seemed good value so a swift phone call and an exchange of emails and we have booked two places on their 3-Island tour tomorrow.

Having sorted out tomorrow we headed out to have a better look at the area we are staying in - Lapad. Yesterday we walked down a steep hill to the beach and I wasn’t that impressed to be quite honest. Today we took a different route and it was a totally different experience. We walked along a pedestrianised attractive tree lined narrow avenue lined with restaurant until we came to the beach. It was a lot easier walk and so much nicer. Colin had noticed that there are a series of walks in our area so we decided to walk the Śetnica walking trail around the promontory of Lapad. What a lovely walk, past endless swimming and snorkelling spots and cafes and restaurants - we stopped for a cold beer and ice cream at one.

We continued around the coastline until we were stopped by a snotty security man working at a 5-star hotel who claimed the route was a dead end the way we wanted to go. I showed him my map but he wasn’t having any of it and so we had to turn around and work out an alternative route. I was tempted to walk into their area from the opposite directive but in the event I couldn’t be bothered!!

As we rounded the promontory we saw the massive bridge - Franjo Tudjman Bridge - we had driven into Dubrovnik on and also spied two large cruise ships - it turned out that yesterday was the only cruise free day which meant our walk around the city walls was much more pleasant without the hordes.

A good footstep count again today and we rounded off with dinner at a place called Pull Over which was nice, not the best meal we’ve had but not bad. We headed back and got our things ready for our boat trip tomorrow and an earlier start.
