The weather was dreadful this morning which was typical as we had planned a trip to see Colin’s friend Mike a number of weeks ago. The SatNav suggested that the route to Mill Hill was quickest via the North Circular - my least favourite route involving the Hangar Lane gyratory system. An hour and a half later but only 22 miles later we arrived and the rain stopped!

Mike is a really nice chap and he had planned a walk around the grounds of Forty Hall that we had to abort on our last visit as it rained then as well. The grounds are lovely with lakes and a walled garden. We walked to a pub and had an excellent Brie and bacon sandwich while the boys had salted beef. We continued our walk back to the Hall where I had an exploding biscuit in the tea shop - turns out gluten free means nothing binds the ingredients together.

We drove back and Mike cooked dinner - Greek starters and baked trout for mains with a cheeseboard to finish up. Mike accidentally set fire to his oven glove which was quite funny but I’ve decided to try and get another replacement with hares on it based on what’s around his house..

As I had driven over Colin drove back and it was a much better journey - our headlights are so much better than our previous cars. It was a really nice day.
