Our last full day in Cornwall with Mum. Unexpectedly Ian’s brother Drew dropped by. He had hired a camper van and had driven all the way down from Scotland for a brief tour around Cornwall! He stayed for lunch before Ian and he headed out to see the telegraphic museum on the coast and we decided to walk into Mousehole. This is about three miles and I wondered if Mum would be OK but she was fine. I took this selfie as we walked up from Newlyn, it was lovely weather but rather breezy.

We were forced to have another ice cream in Mousehole and the salted caramel and honeycomb really was most excellent. The hoards of tourist are starting to leave now and in a few days the entire place will be a lot quieter which apparently is a relief to the locals of which Mum is now one of course! We did cheat and get the bus back.

We stopped at a different point and walked back in Penzance visiting Mum and Ian’s allotment on route. It is actually quite a big patch and we picked lots of fresh beans fruit for this evenings meal whilst we were there. My final dinner for everyone which wasn’t really mine as Mum had pre-cooked a delicious chicken and chorizo stew which I simply defrosted and then sliced the beans we had picked literally an hour ago to go with it. Colin made the mashed potato! I needed a dessert so I quickly knocked up a cinnamon apple sponge which I was rather proud of. I was forced to use plain flour with baking powder added as the flour weevils seem to have invaded Mum’s self raising and I wasn’t going to use her technique of just sieving them out!!

Dinner seemed to go down with everyone and Drew enjoyed it as well.
