8th June 2020

Day 77 in lock down.

Colin was out at golf this mornings I caught up with this project… and sorted the washing!

I watched Simon Calder over a cup of tea and a biscuit and he managed to broadcast, film and cycle all the way from Hammersmith to the A4 flyover on his way to Heathrow to report on todays introduction of the 14 day quarantine period to anyone arriving or returning to the UK. Nearly everyone thinks this is ridiculous and only beneficial a the start or at the high point of the pandemic. However, it is an idea by Dominic Cummings (still in post!) and supported by fierce Brexiteers partly, I think, as a way to prove to Europe we can have control over our borders - pathetic. Thousands of people will lose their jobs and there is no way of enforcing it anyway. As the FCO haven’t lifted their advice about avoiding travelling anywhere at all it is rather academic.

Pork steaks this evening followed by the remains of the apple pie from yesterday. It was grey then sunny last thing in the day and the clouds were high stratus.

40,597 PHE the total dead in the UK (up 55)
