19th October 2020

Day 208 of semi lock down.

This morning was spent putting together the invoices for framed prints to be delivered tomorrow to various places around Twickenham. However we had a much more enjoyable afternoon than usual.

My fiends Emmeline and Paul had invited us over to Kew where they live and they had got us free tickets to accompany them into Kew gardens. I have not seen them in person since before lock down and I was really looking forward to it despite the fact we cannot give them a hug or go into their home. We took the train to Richmond (with mask) and it was quite quiet. We then walked to their house up kew Road. The tree colours are stunning at the moment. Paul let their lovely dog Stanley out to see us in the front garden - he is a lovely dog, so well trained.

Kew Gardens are looking beautiful. We looked at the newly restored Pagoda and Emmeline explained that a number of the dragon heads have actually been created using a 3-D printer which is amazing. We even managed to have a cup of tea and a cookies sat outside on a bench (no longer allowed inside together). It was really refreshing to be able to talk properly rather than on Zoom or messaging on WhatsApp. I heard the real background to a recent event at my Club which resulted in the standing down of two members of the Committee including Paul and the resignation of a Club member.

We sadly headed back as it started getting a little cooler at about 4.30pm. I was gearing up for another presentation to the Photography ay Home Group run by James as part of our photo club. Despite having done quite a few, I really don’t like doing them but with a glass of wine before had as Dutch courage, it went well. My friends Ingrid, Jocelyn and James also presented their work and all were very good - Jocelyn in particular had an amazing concept. We left the microphones on as we were a smaller group of 15 and it was almost (but not quite) as good as meeting in person.
