3rd of August 2021

1 year, 130 days since the start of the 1st lock down in March 2020

Oh dear - the alarm was set for 4.55am although I got up 5 minutes before it went off. Today is the grand departure day of Colin and Chris to Spain and I am the designated taxi driver.

Unsurprisingly the roads were rather quiet and it took us no time at all to get over to Chris’s house and then drive back on the M25 to terminal 5 - this is probably the best terminal to drop off at and it far less busy than the others. It was very strange saying goodbye to Colin after literally over a year and a half together. I was home by 6.45am!

I had wondered if I’d have a nap when back but I decided I’d feel worse if I did so I had breakfast and then finally got in the shower. I had filled my day with a number of tasks and things to collect. I checked the departure of Colin’s flight and it was pretty much on time - I tracked it on my phone and was actually able to photograph it as it flew over the house - don’t think he saw me! I then caught up with emails including writing to the Royal Mid Surrey golf course as the King’s Ob servitor that I want to photograph is bang slap in the middle of their land.

First I made up the card order for The Card Collection in Molesey and delivered them a little later to Julia and picked up the tables pots that she is very kindly lending me again for our awards dinner next Friday. I also got their Christmas card order which I will work on this week.

Then after lunch I drove to Orleans House to catch up briefly with Sheila and collected unsold Christmas cards from last year and took her order for cards for this year. I was able to park in the car park which was convenient but I never like the every narrow drive down Orleans Road to get there.

Back in time to accept delivery of three cups from Phil from the photo club for presentation next week. The back in the car to pop over to Andrew’s house in Twickenham to collect the other cups that we need. I had a chat with him and his wife about the tests etc. that are required for travelling as he is hoping togo to Greece to visit this sister next week. Colin faceted to confirm that he and Chris had arrived safely in their massive hired minibus as they were also driving two of James friends to the villa.

That was a busy day at any time but after very little sleep I was shattered but the time I went to bed.
