7th October 2021

1 year, 189 days since the start of the 1st lock down in March 2020.

Colin was at golf this morning so I took the train to Richmond to enable me to count the cards at Richmond. I decided on the train over the bus as I thought it would be less crowded and have more space for decrease the chance of catching Covid.

From Richmond I took the 267 bus direct to Fulwell as I wanted to see if they have any hamsters in yet. Sydney’s house has seemed very quiet since he passed away in September and I would like another male hamster to join the family. Luck was in as there was a delivery of hamsters with two males but neither were particularly wanting to come out despite some persuasion from the chap who works there. I think there is a little black whir and grey one that has character.

Back home by bus again to make up a card order for Card Collection in Molesey and wrapped Lillie’s birthday presents and also my old phone to trade it in to put there money towards my new phone.

This was a surprise photo from the end of the day. I was just putting the bins out when I spotted a lovely ‘smooth’ or common newt literally outside on the brick step of the front path. I carefully picked it up and took it through the house to the damp moss next to our little pond in the back garden. I think it will be so much happier there and I have no idea where it came from. It has been years since I have seen a newt near the house.
