14th December 2022

I was looking forward to today as Karen kindly got us all tickets to the Christmas Light show at Hampton Court this evening. However unfortunately she caught Covid again a few days and is still feeling rough and testing positive. She sent us the tickets and I did feel bad about still going when she cannot but she explained that the tickets are non-refundable so at least we can get some use out of them.

Colin and I wrapped up and walked through Bushy Parkin the dark to meet Chris there who had driven from work. he managed to find a parking place in the Palace car park which was surprising. I was not sure what to expect and knew that it would not be as impressive as the lights at Kew or Wisley but in the event it was very good after rather a slow start. At first the lights were rather spread out and not that impressive. We had a hot chocolate early on and in error the woman on the stand put cream and marshmallows on both our drinks which I then promptly spilt over my scarf and gloves and Colin ended up with a massive cream moustache… never mind it was a nice idea.

As we approaching the back of the Palace the light show became more impressive with projected light animations of the back of the Palace which were really beautiful with flying dragons and water mimicry. The trail then led us into he back of the Palace through to the astronomical clock courtyard for the culmination of the show. It was amazing with music, moving lights and many sculptures of unicorns created from recycled plastic. We spent a long time there watching the display.

We finally were getting chilly and walked back to the car park where Chris gave us a lift back to Teddington and we all enjoyed a Nandos meal for dinner.

Last task of the day was finally ordering the two books I have been working on for quite some time. I managed to find a 20% discount code and opted for expedited post to ensure that they arrive before Christmas - fingers crossed with all the postal strikes at the moment.
Wow, fancy meeting Christ in Bushy Park! And so glad the son of God found a parking space 🤣 Excellent image, have often wondered what some of these winter trails are like - we usually go to the Kew one which sets quite a high bar.

Ha ha ha - I found religion in the HC car park ... and that is very unlikely! Corrected and hope I didn't offend anyone.

We love the Kew one as well but it is so expensive. Try the Wisley one if you haven't already, it's not so big as Kew but is very tasteful.
