8th September 2013

Our first day in Grand Teton National Park. I have been really looking forward to seeing the local wildlife and we literally had been within the park boundaries for 15-minutes when we were surrounded by a herd of Buffalo. I have never seen these before and they are massive!

This bull had his eye on me the whole time and whilst I was using my long lens, it is only a 70-200mm so I needed to be fairly close. I was prepared to make a dash back to the car at any point although I have read they can easily outrun a man... so an unfit photographer suffering the effects of high altitude would not have been that much of a challenge to him to have caught up!

(If you have time to look, here are a few images on Facebook of the Grand Teton National Park - https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.607458372640181.1073741876.186301661422523&type=1)
He looks rather cute and friendly but I could be wrong! Terrific photo!

They are beautiful animals and I`m glad you were able to get close enough for this great portrait--the magnificent animal in front, and a hint of his magnificent environment in the background.
