I have a 1930's house and these were an original feature though they are now encased in a double glazing unit. This is part of a strip of 5 identical ones in a bay window. There are a few different designs throughout the house. I might do a another mini theme with them later in the year as they are at their best in sunshine.
I love all those little design details in 1930's houses. Near where I lived in Colchester, there was an entire crescent of that typical 1930's deco/modernist architecture (I can't remember the name of the style), and all the houses were still painted cream, with green metal window frames. I loved that even at the start of the 21st century, when they were repainted, they still kept to the original scheme!
