Today I started reading "The Hunchback of Notre Dame"

Or as it is really titled "Notre Dame of Paris"

This is my cheap resin gargoyle souvenir I bought on Montmartre in Paris a few years back.... I had to piknik him like crazy to get the dark scary look...since I just took the pic of him today, on a sunny and blue sky Southern day! I know I cut his tongue off, but compared to the one that kept his tongue in, this one seems to POP...like he's jumping out to eat you up! I think because it emphasizes his eyes. So I left it this way.

I am really enjoying the book so far..... Victor Hugo throws in the quirkiest, most ironic, little events that occur when that many people (mostly fighting for survival) are thrown into such close quarters in Paris during the late 1400s.
Great shot! And now you have me wanting to read some "real" literature instead of the Sookie Stackhouse series that I've been reading! lol!

Well, I thought you took this from the cover of your book, so I will have to say that I think you captured the feeling of it perfectly. Great shot and processing!

@dolliesmom I thought Victor Hugo would be a nightmare bore, but I am loving it. He CAN be a nightmare bore at times, but it is so worth it. This one reads fast too! (compared to Les Mis)
@5unflow3r Thanks, Trina! Yeah,we have a nice sunset off our front porch up here and our porch has rock ledges, so I was going to wait to shoot it then. But I need to mow the lawn. I may try to shoot it again to see if I can get the sun setting in one....but there are some annoying power lines in my way. I need to get the ace membership here or premium at piknik so I can clone them out. Anyway, I thought it came out good. Btw, I meant to go yesterday, but day got away from me, but as soon as I can, I am heading to Barnes and Nobles with my gift card my students gave me and getting "Prayer for Owen Meaney"....I read a sample on amazon and it was good. I don't want to listen to it though...I need to read this one.

@espyetta You won't regret it...think I've read it 4 times through the years. :-)

@5unflow3r It had a lot of good recommendations, yes!

@dolliesmom and btw, Shannon, I liked Sookie Stackhouse...I listened to the first one when Carey Cline suggested it. It was quirky and funny. I am usually not big on reading a bunch in a series of more of the same though unless it is like Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Chronicles of Narnia...that stuff.

Piknik is FUN! I prob. will end up doing the paid membership so I can get use of the clone tool, which I used to have on a photohandling program I had on my last computer, but now I don't. I will do one type edit in piknik, or combine two edit styles, then save the pic, then go back, remove those, do some other editing, save that...then I click through all the versions and pick the one I think turned out best.

Isn't it great to have the summer to catch up on a little recreational reading. Enjoy your time reading.

@aj1268 What is funny, is from some angles and if his whole body is in the pic, he looks like a cute little puppy! On a slow day, I will have to put up another pic of two of Gargoyle....he can be pretty cute when he wants to!
