@grammyn What's weird is that it seemed the Pileated, which is much bigger, was scared off by the red headed. Pileated flew away, and as I left the trail and about to cross a lot to get home, there were two Pileated all over the leaves and lower parts of trees, right behind a house. I could not get a good shot of them though.

Great capture- it's not easy to get a Pileated period! They're really shy. Great timing on your part!

Very nice capture. I've only ever seen acorn woodpeckers. They just have a cap of red.
