On the last day at the lake, we were heading down the path to move the dock ramp up the stairs a bit because the water level rose up too high for where it is now. I saw this teeny weensy teeny tiny oak leaf on the path. I picked it up and put it in the storage tray of the golf cart. I was afraid I'd forget it or it would dry out or something, but it did not. Back up by the house, I found an acorn and a bed of moss. I think the bokeh in the back and the dof transform this to look like a path through a fairy forest instead of just a measly little patch of moss under a holly bush.
I put this in my main album because it is different than my usual photos.
@karenann Hey Karenann! Thanks for the fav! It is one of my favs....like I said, different for me, had to set it up, which I usually don't do....and it looks like the setting of some of the fantasy books I read like Lord of the Rings or something...
Instant fav, MaryBeth - I just love this! It looks like something you would find in a children's book! I don't think I've ever seen an oak leaf so tiny!
@httpgeffed Thanks, Colleen. I appreciate your comments. I was at least proud that I have learned something doing this project. At first, I did what I would have done with it last fall/summer....I put it on the rock of my porch, in this super bright sunlight....took a few shots. I did not even have to look in the display to know that was not the right way to shoot an acorn and baby leaf. So then I went hunting for the moss in sunlight. And voila. So I have learned that anyway. Thanks for the fav! Yo
Excellent photography, love the acorn and how you presented it with thought. yes it does look like a magical forest.
one more observation, I look at the oak leave on the acorn, that make me think the acorn is as large as a coconut, even though I do know what size it is. But it's a photo I would be pleased to hang on my wall.
@summerfield Now I can say "Thanks VIKKI!" Just had to make sure of how you spelled it. I enjoyed reading everyone's name story posted on your photo of the cross stitch!
@summerfield Hey Vikki....It did not show on the PP and I think I am seeing a pattern....because this one got a lot of favs. but I had originally posted it on April 9 or something...saved it for two days so I could post all my three fly pics that day I shot the green fly. I think there is a search engine (or he just looks at it by hand) that picks only those posted for the day they were taken. I have since moved it to see if that changes it...but maybe too late now. I was just curious, as they don't "tell you that" but since the spirit is "p hoto a day" and post it, maybe that is all that can make PP. Jason Daniels volcano one did from several years ago, but the month and day were the same..just in 2009, so slipped by maybe. I found that interesting..... I was just surprised with this many favs this one did go up there, but that is okay. I think the day you took it needs to match the day on the calendar you post it to.
@espyetta - well, in my books it's a popular. i think it should matter only that it was posted and had so many favs and views on a certain day. it's still the most beautiful photo ever!
@summerfield Hey vikki! You are so sweet! Thank you! I got some decent pics today but nothing I am wild about except for as I sat in the outdoor classroom this afternoon, I got a shot of a bird that has moved onto one of the hanainted by students (last year) bird houses! After we painted them last year people said that no bird would live in one but it is! The kids will be excited to see that....they are now in fifth but I will send pic to their teachers. I went to sleep when I got home though...been staying up too late doing 365, haha going to bed but will post the pics tomorrow.yay! Friday will have come at last!
@summerfield I meant to tell you that I know why Ross may have those rules....because someone could go out and shoot 250 great photos in one week and then post, post, post them all year long. They'd get all these PP slots and hog them up from those who are doing the "photo a day thing" which is in the real spirit of the site. So...it makes sense! now that I know, I might decide things a bit differently. Not that being on the PP is that important, but it is fun.
MaryBeth, you are correct, this is a truly magnificent photograph. Note, I used the word photograph and not picture. I think there is a difference. A photograph is a work of art. I think it is not only a beautiful picture but also a creative and imaginative.
I found your review of PP very informative. You may be on to something. This should have made it. Bunten Park awaits?
@jimwilson Sure! We will meet up at the park soon. Can you go Monday? If you can, and it is not raining, I could meet you at the entrance where my car was this last time at 3:45....can you do that? Oh, and go to see my other album with you and Cassie...did you see me waving and taking the pic when I left?
Thank you for the follow. Have returned the honors. =)
