When I first saw and started shooting this ant, he was eating a bug. But it took me a while to get him in focus and get myself angled so I could see him in the midst of all the yellow flowers and stems on this plant by my garage. Ants seem delicately elegant to me now, since they started posing for me.
@httpgeffed Colleen...I love that book! I use it for persuasive writing....Pretend you are the ant and persuade the boy not to stomp you. haha I like Van Allsburg's TWo Bad Ants too!
@dannydavies Thanks Danny! I have gotten lipucky and gotten some good. Big shots biut I needed that tip to remind me to try to keep my f stop higher....I shoot in suvpch Los light that I get. A bad hab it of keeping it set to 5. 6 . But that is not an optimal setting.....and need to look into magnification filters too! So thank you for the tips
A wonderful shot! I think ants are fun to shoot. (If only they weren't so small! Then again, I don't want giant ants, haha.) You've captured great details! 8)
@lindag This was with my Canon 18-55 mm....It is not "all that" but at least I finally realized it was somewhat of a "macro" lens when I cannot use my long lens for the macro shots due to light problems or positioning. I hope to get a dedicated macro lens though...crossing fingers! My b day is coming up.
@espyetta It is definitely doing the job. You are capturing great detail. And what this lens will do that is different from macro is give you a wider area of focus. They all have their own flavor. Here's hoping you get just what you want. Every gift giving opportunity, bonus check and windfall goes to the camera bag these days for me. What else??!! :-)
