Leafhopper Love

photo 357
I was not going to bother shooting this insect as it was so tiny and just green like the leaf it was on...nothing to see here. Haha

But I shot the pic and zoomed in on my display to find it was one of those colorful leaf hoppers. They are just too small to see very well.

Later I was shooting another one on this red stem of this plant.

Then he walked on over to the first one and ...well, you know the rest.

It was brief, and I did get interesting shots of that, but this one cracked me up. Look at her face. Hee hee

Other friends I met at the park that day

Kind of like the frolicking squirrels I was taking photos of the other day. Just as I put my camera up, they decided to go at it. Just what I need to post, squirrel porn.

Oh my. I think this DOES qualify as bug porn!

Excellent focus. The two are in a stand-off.

@webfoot @m9f9l I know. Right? and Paul, I did shoot a sequence of squirrel mating and it was just too strange to post it..bugs are one thing, but I just could not "go there" and post the squirrels! lol

Tee hee, Shirley thinks they're facing each other, I think!

What unusual bugs! Great shot!

@m9f9l oops! Maybe I should just let her go on believing that! instead of the ugly truth!

@marlboromaam I had never heard of them or seen one really until about two weeks ago. I am still shocked by what a camera lens can see that we can not.

I think they are leaf hoppers--I shot a spotted one a couple of weeks ago. They are very tiny, but their markings are so pretty! Super catch!

How did you get such a crisp photo of such a tiny bug

@kimmistephens Thanks, Kimmi. It takes alot of shots to get a good one, but it is taking less as I get experience...and my 18-55 mm lens is pretty good i guess, even though not a macro lens.

@espyetta Now MaryBeth, there is nothing ugly about procreation. People can twist it about and make it SEEM ugly, but that's a social/psychological disease. When viewed from the proper mindset, physical intimacy is beautiful. Just makin' sure we don't throw out the baby with the bathwater!! :-)

@m9f9l Soooo true...it's just nature and to me nature is beautiful.
