Martian soil by etienne

Martian soil

I remember having seen once a picture from the NASA showing a patch of Martian soil that looked like that, and that had been created by the same phenomenon. This is a patch of dry sand sprinkled with pebbles, after a dry wind storm. The wind has blown the sand away, except under the pebbles, where the sand has stayed. The result is this strange and very temporary pattern.
Makes the solar system seem smaller in a way. Thanks for the explanation.

I love when this happens. In snow we call it zastrugis. Great captured with the use of the shadows. Nicely seen and desplayed.

This is stunning. It looks very other-worldly. Is this in Ireland?
