If you compare with my other post of today, you will notice that this Brussels sprout flower looks similar to the kale flower : both plants are from the same family even if the vegetables look very different. Each Brussels sprout that you would leave unharvested on the parent plant will open up as a very small cabbage. A stem will then grow in the middle of it, and the flowers will appear at the end of the stem. A Brussels sprout parent plant can thus bear hundreds of these.
