Signs of the times

Pete's Farmers Market was a fixture in North Baton Rouge for as long as I remember. Pete's son Doug donated fresh fruit to the Redemptorist High School football team when Brandon played there. Redemptorist closed two years ago and is being torn down. Pete's must have closed about the same time and has been for sale ever since. The good news is that Redemptorist will be replaced by Cristo Rey, a school that prepares low income students for college. I don't know if there is any good news ahead for Pete's....
We are getting a Cristo Rey school in Richmond too!

@allie912 Interesting! It seems like a great concept. The one in Baton Rouge opened on the old Redemptorist campus, but a week later it flooded and they had to relocate. The buildings were too badly flooded to be repaired, but Cristo Rey plans to reopen on the same site. That's good news for the community and for the Redemptorist alumni and supporters like me who were devasted when their school closed.

Rather a forlorn looking photo. It is sad to see fixtures such as this fall into disrepair.
