Every year they spend a few days in Baton Rouge, a rest stop during their fall migration.
This was taken with my Sony A6000 and a 55-210 lens, which is really not long enough for bird photography, but it's what I have. I am still smiling at the conversation I had with another photographer who asked, "What kind of a camera is THAT?" I told him and asked about his.
"I have this Nikon with a 400 mm lens.” He held it up proudly and added in amazement, “I took over 270 pictures yesterday."
“Of the pelicans?” A nod. It slipped out: “Were they good?”
"Oh, yes. They were amazing." A smile. I realized that he was not bragging, just a new photographer seeing the world in new ways.
And then, "How old do you think I am?" I hate it when people ask me that question! I guessed 65. He beamed; he is 79. I made his day. In a funny way, he added to mine, too.
