The Shepherd by evalieutionspics

The Shepherd

The shepherd takes his flock to all of the fields surrounding our village. It is fascinating to watch as he walks along with them. It looks as though they are tethered to him by a giant elastic band. If he turns, they do as well, completely in tandem. When he finds the field for the day, he will lie down in the shade of a tree while the goats graze. The goat milk is used to make halloumi cheese. YUM!

He is a taciturn man and is has only recently begun to return my greetings.
How fascinating to watch! Yum to the halloumi! Sounds an interesting character!

The goats look so healthy & it must be a labour of love & tradition to care for them this way. He will be a very interesting man when you eventually become friends:) I had goats cheese on my crepe today.

I like the idea of walking a little way, then lying down in the shade of a tree for a while. Lovely shot.

@cottiac Thank you!
@365projectorgjenfurj I agree, that they look healthy. In fact, I had been commenting about how shiny their coats appeared to my gardener. I hope at some point, my Greek is good enough for me to carry on a conversation with him. I would love to take a photograph of the baby goats in the spring. That is a goal I am working toward.
@sarasotab Thank you! I think a walk and a rest in a shady spot is always a good thing. :)
@joysabin Thank you so much!
