This morning, I was watering the basil when I realized I had accidentally sprayed Bettina Two's web. The spray had put a golf ball sized hole in the bottom of the web. Bettina Two rushed to the hole and quickly...I mean QUICKLY...began eating the strands of the broken web. She ate the entire bottom half of the web then settled back into the middle.
I like the large water droplet that has formed as she has ingested the silk. I also like the way the strands of the web and the yucca in the background point toward her. And I LOVE the graceful positioning of her back legs. Bettina Two is of the species Araneus diadematus, just in case you were wondering

I love that you stopped to watch her activity so carefully. You are so right about those gracefully positioned back legs.
