I had the opportunity to take the Cog Railway with a friend to the top of Pikes Peak. I am always taking pictures of this mountain, so it was fun going to the top! It it 14,110 ft. high. This last weekend, was the Pikes Peak Marathon. It is 26 miles round trip and the winner did it in 3 hours 48 minutes!! It took us 3 1/2 hours to take the train up and down the mountain, to give you an idea of the amazing runner this man is!! This view is looking out east to the city of Colorado Springs. I had such a wonderful time photographing this mountain today!
It's a beautiful shot, I'm wondering whether there is something on your lens, to the far left of the pic. between the clouds and the horizon there seems to be a spot...I'm just saying because I had the same thing on some of my pics and hadn't noticed, because it depends on how you've focused as to how much it stands out. I may be wrong:)
@catwhiskers@jml0306 Thank you so much! @miata2u Thank you Peggy and for the fav too!! You made my day! @veekay Thank you VIckie, and yes, I see what you are saying and it sure could be a spot, so I appreciate you pointing it out!! It was blowing up on the Peak, so maybe something got on the lens!
You had your head in the clouds when you took this, Wendy - and you can keep it there because obviously everyone thinks this is a great picture. Me too! The clouds are so dramatic - well done.
Totally Fantastic!! My husband climbed Pikes Peak with his friends and he told me it looks like your on the moon.... I think he had a lack of oxygen to his brain because this looks nothing like the moon (not that I have been to either place!).
@zferrie@sethtan@terryd2011@sjodell Thank you so much!! @kiwichick Thank you so much Lesley and for the fav too!! @shanne@foolmoon@louisefrance@hjbenson@hudd@steeler@veritymccoll@denisedaly@dmcrisp@eddyj Thank you so much for your comments!! @bkbinthecity Thank you so much! You will have to come back and go up next time! It is great fun. If you ever go, I recommend the earliest train possible to avoid the afternoon thunderstorms we get here! @bobfoto Thank you Jason! Yes a Rally car would be awesome! Wish I had gotten pictures of the race....there's always next year! @cpmitchell@nodecaff@richardshears@chriswang Thank you so much for your comments! @twinsplusone Thank you so much Sharon for your comments! It is extremely rocky at the top with huge boulders. Very dry and desolate since it's above tree line, but the views are spectacular! I need to hike up next time!!
Amazing--the clouds and the light are so breath-taking. I did this once, and want to take my daughter on that train ride one day! Those who do that marathon amaze me. I remember being passed on the trail by those who were in training.
WOw - stunning, sounds like my kind of mountain - I would've liked to walk up it!! Fabulous shot - like the different layers in the distance - great processing too
