I headed down to Aspen, Colorado to get some fall shots at the Maroon Bells area. I arrived before sunrise to get a spot on the lake (it's very difficult to get a spot if you don't get there before 5:00 am). I spent most of the morning here and left around 12:00 pm. As I headed down the mountain, I noticed many people walking on the road and was a little perplexed until I reached the gate 6 miles down and it was shut. They were only letting visitors out of the park. I found out later, Maroon Bells was closed due to the government shutdown. Glad I went when I did and feeling grateful to have been able to get some fall shots here!
This is awesome! I was supposed to go there at the end of September and my trip fell through. I was bummed but plan on going next year for sure! This is just beautiful and a fav! Great capture!
absolutely beautiful, Wendy. this shot is on my photo bucket list and some day I'll get there. glad you were able to get the shot after traveling time and energy spent to get to the perfect spot.
This is just a perfect shot - such ideal color and stillness to the water. Wondered how you managed the shot without people until I read what time you got there! I didn't make it that early the first time and that was my only chance as my husband didn't care for all those people! You certainly were lucky to catch it before they closed - perfect shot of the Bells.
@eyesmile Thank you soooo much Gena for you wonderful comments and favs! Sure made my day after a long evening at work! I am not sure about that PP! I try not to take it too personal, but it would be nice if this one had made it!
Oh, my. As I am going through your photos since I am so far behind, I am finding that they are all spectacular. You really did an awesome job on your trip to Colorado. Another Fav.
