Good morning Colorado! This morning was one of those mornings I jumped out of bed, put on my hat and boots and headed out the door in a flash to capture the amazing colors in the sky. I raced over to the Garden of the Gods and knew just the spot I wanted to set up my tripod. I have jogged this trail several times and understood the problem would be hiking up to my spot before the colors dissipated! It was a bit tricky navigating the trail in the dark, but I was able to capture a few shots as the sun came up in the Garden. The best part of the morning was hearing the birds start their singing when the sun appeared over the horizon!
WOW! I think you're going to get a lot of those! The criss-crossing light and phenomenally saturated colours are amazing! Those massive rocky outcrops don't hurt it either! :-)
Fabulous start to the day! Those colors are fantastic - have just caught that once or twice on our early starts back from Colorado. One of the best parts of your beautiful state. How nice to be that close to that beauty and many many thanks for sharing it with us. Fav
this is gorgeous Wendy. I saw, from all the FB photos friends posted, that it was a beautiful sunrise this morning. did you just get lucky or did you know somehow that it was going to be this way?

I had a suspicion last night that the sky may light up this morning! Mainly due to the weather that was forecast with partly cloudy skies and warmer weather moving in. I just about missed the boat though, because I forgot to set my alarm, but my husband woke me up and when I looked out east, I knew I had just enough time to grab my gear and hustle to my location! It was so worth it!
