I had the opportunity for a very quick trip to the Dallas Divide are near Ridgway, Colorado this week. This happens to be one of my favorite places in our state and even during the winter months...it doesn't disappoint. Heading up West Dallas Divide Road, the wind had calmed and we came across a herd of deer running across the road. As I shot this scene, I could hear an animal on the side of the mountain just opposite of me. I kept trying to see what was making the sound and finally focused on an elk looking across the road in my direction. It was such a great site and then the colors started to change in the sky as the sun set on Mt. Sneffels and the Dallas Divide. These moments lure me back to the mountains, back to the sounds, back to the anticipation of what the scene might unveil as the sun sets.
