Taken at the top of Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado. I raced up to this location after finally deciding the clouds may participate for sunset. It's a three+ hour drive from where I live and Denver rush hour traffic was a bit of a bear to say the least. I just kept going and arrived just as the sun began to set in the west. I parked and started to hike up with my gear in tow. I kept looking behind me, trying to judge the sunset and anticipating the time I had to get up far enough to capture the beauty unfolding behind me. I had only moments to set up my tripod, get my exposure settings, and take a few test shots before getting some vertical pano shots to create this scene. It was definitely a night I had dreamed of and am thankful for persisting on to this location and guided to capture the light...chasing it 'til the colors faded to gray.
